To get a measure of how sophisticated American cuisine is around the country - head South for warmer weather and good food. A Southern Season, Chapel Hill, NC's premier gourmet food and cookware shop, is hosting its 8th annual Festival of the Women this week. Super Chef is not only impressed that A Southern Season is focusing on women, but also by the caliber of the chefs involved in the program.

Some of the highlights include: D'Artagnan's Ariane Daugin; North Carolina chefs Karen Barker of Magnolia Grill and Phoebe Lawless of Scratch; and a panel discussion with local food writers including Kelly Alexander, Marcie Cohen-Ferris, and Andrea Weigl. and more.

Take note: All proceeds from festival events will fund a scholarship awarded each year to a North Carolina woman pursuing a career in hospitality or the culinary arts.
