FOOD FLICKS: Irish Language Lab
By JULIETTE ROSSANT ![]() What the... ! That's right: this greenbelted cowby is former Monkees star and long-time film producer, Michael Nesmith. Superchefblog had looked long and hard for a video to celebrate St. Patrick's Day today. We looked at restaurant videos like Galway Bay Irish Pub in Annapolis and O'Brien's Irish Cottage in Sterling Heights, Michigan, but we found them too commercially oriented and uninspiring. Google's own MTV News-cloned "Google Current" for St. Paddy's (search word "Tipperary") was even more commercial -- why not just get yourself some nice green Technorati Shop gear instead? Taylor's Irish Dancers were fun but foodless, while Maurice Frazer's Dublin Photos seem fixated on statuary. There was a funny one about two Irishmen in a pub, but some people might take offense. So when we saw the legendary Mike's 1986 short about learning the Irish accent, we knew we had found our flick -- especially after hearing so much about "po-TA-toes," as you shall see (although you might be tempted to see the Irish-less short Sorority Girls From Hell -- both are outtakes from Dr. Duck's Super Secret All-Purpose Sauce). Choose from the following formats to watch today's Friday FOOD FLICKS feature: Stay tuned for more "Food Flicks" each Friday!(run time: 2 min 28 sec) Google Video (resizable) Videoranch - large (Quicktime) Videoranch - small (Quicktime) |
