Emeril Re-Opens in New Orleans
By JULIETTE ROSSANT This evening marks the re-opening of Emeril Lagasse's flagship restaurant in the Warehouse District of New Orleans. NOLA is set to re-open next Tuesday, December 13. Both retaurants are offering dinner only. No word yet on Delmonico's. Meanwhile, Ruth's Chris, which relocated corporate headquarters from New Orleans to Orlando after Hurricane Katrina, stole a bit of wind out of Emeril's sails by re-opening this past Monday, November 5, heralded in today's SmartBrief from the National Restaurant Association. Within just the past few weeks, Ruth's Chris has also announced the opening of three new restaurants in Anaheim, Boston, and Ocean City (MD). Over in the Garden Districut, Commander's Palace has not fared so well, reported The Times-Picayune last week, where "an overflowing trash bin sits in the spot where valets usually choreograph a jam of luxury cars." Commander's Palace sits in low ground, so ""water came in through the ceiling" there. March 2006 is currently the earliest date the restaurant hopes to re-open.
