Times-Picayune: Spicer for President(ial chef)

By JULIETTE ROSSANT

Times-Picayune

In the "Quick Bites" section of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Food writer Brett Anderson notes growing hubbbub about the still-vacant position of White House Executive Chef:
The vacancy, however, has generated attention, not to mention some confusion: The Atlantic Monthly reports Scheib quit; The New York Times reported he was fired for not being able to "satisfy the first lady's stylistic requirements.

But regardless of how Scheib left, there are those who'd prefer that his replacement not be named Walter.
Susan Spicer of BayonaHe notes WCR's open letter to Laura Bush and superchefblog's poll "Vote for White House Woman Chef," whose nominees include Bayona chef Susan Spicer is among those in the running, at least technically.

The Times-Picayune quotes Spicer as saying:
There's a job I have no interest in. It's not necessarily the administration. That's not the primary reason. It's more of a catering job, and I don't really think that suits my talents... I'm certainly in good company. It's nice to see a pretty good number of women in the business at a certain level.
