Cat Cora, Anita Lo: Sexing Up Iron Chef America
By JULIETTE ROSSANT In a new "coed" episode this coming Sunday, April 3, at 10:00 p.m. on the Food Network, finally Iron Chef America will add Cat Cora as the newest Iron Chef, when she is pitted, woman against man -- Alex Lee, former chef at Daniel and co-star of Leslie Brenner's book The Fourth Star -- according to The New York Daily News."Today, history is being made in Kitchen Stadium," host Mark Dacascos will announce when introducing Cat, though the news is nearly two months old (see previous article) -- and we shall see whether by Monday morning Cat has been added online as an official Iron Chef (see bios in the left-hand navbar under "Show Highlights"). ![]() But watch out! In an episode airing just before Cat at 9:00 p.m., Annisa's Anita Lo will lead an all-women team into the arena to combat the men as she takes on Iron Chef Mario Batali. Cat and Anita are hot contenders in a hotter race led by a nationwide readers' poll, part of an even bigger battle -- for the first woman White House Executive Chef (see previous article and poll -- and don't forget to vote for either of them or 40 other top American chefs across the country). Stepping back a little, it seems that while Tony Blair & Co. may have run into trouble when they tried to sex up the rationale for the Iraq War, in this Kitchen Stadium battle the more sex, the more exciting the show. Let battle commence -- and may the best women win!
