Joe Guzzardi: If Not Governor, White House Chef

By JULIETTE ROSSANT If he can't be governor of California, he might as well aim higher and head for the White House -- as chef. That's right: I said "chef," not "chief." You see, Joe Guzzardi has a dream. This English teacher from Lodi, California, secretly wants to be White House Executive Chef. That is to say, it was a secret -- until he made it public on a blog posting about 10 days ago. Now, the long-time columnist, currently writing for CalNews and The Lodi News-Sentinal, is making a direct appeal to President George W. Bush. (Click here to read his tale.) Of course, the same Joe Guzzardi ran against Gray Davis for governor of California in the 2003 recall election -- but, like Davis, was trounced by the Gubernator, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
