Paul Prudhomme Seasons US Troops at Gitmo
|
By JULIETTE ROSSANT The Associated Press has reported that Paul Prudhomme, the New Orleans-based chef and cookbook author who became a celebrity with his blackened redfish and other Cajun dishes, has prepared a meal for US troops at the US naval station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
"There's no better audience for a guy who loves to cook," said Prudhomme, who took some 4,000 pounds of food and spices, as well as head chef Paul Miller and other staff from K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen.
(Guantanamo Bay or "Gitmo" is the backdrop for Rob Reiner's A Few Good Men with Jack Nickolson and Tom Cruise -- as well as the location where "enemy combatants" have been held ever since the US entry into Afghanistan three years ago this month, following 9/11. Trials have just begun for those held there. US Navy photos of the Camp Delta detention center are available online [click here].) |
